Comments

I took off the captcha/word verification thingamajig, so you can just type in a comment.  It is damn near impossible to read one of the two words they want you to type in, so I'm over it.  I did change the settings so that I have to choose to Publish them or not, so we'll see how this goes.

I tried to comment on a few blogs on Thursday and got the word verification wrong 2-3 times, so I gave up.  I'm still reading though!! :)

Today is protein shakes and coffee.  Sunday and Monday is a juice fast, we'll see what I decide after that.  Just need a quick detox because I still feel like crud from Tuesday.  I also have no groceries, so decided I'm only going to go into the Produce section at the grocery store and that's it for this week.  Not sure if I'll keep juicing all week or have raw or salads or what.  Speaking of grocery store, it's a 50 mile trip so I guess I better get up and at it soon here.  For you people who don't live in the middle of nowhere - don't take it for granted.  I have lots of windshield time in just trying to buy healthy, wholesome real foods.

I was talking to another Program Director at work the other day, and she orders her fruit online?  She orders pears and citrus fruits from somewhere and they are delivered every Thursday.  She is going to bring me the company's brochure on Tuesday when we return from our THREE DAY WEEKEND!!!!  Sometimes, I hate living here because of stupid annoyances like this.  Wichita, Kansas - I miss you!!!!  :(

I tried to work out a deal with the local grocery store to order me a box of good stuff for the week.  Whatever organic veggie that was at a good price for the week - just order it.  That lasted about two months.  He has to order 2 boxes of whatever, so say he ordered 2 flats of organic pears or tomatoes - he would pick through them and take all the good ones home.  He would sell me the tore up, bruised, crap and take the other one home to his family for free while over-charging me for the flat of crap he sold me.  I gave that up and just decided I'd be driving the 100+ mile round trip to buy groceries on the weekends.

That's my Saturday, how exciting!  Have a good weekend, lovelies!!!

  1. I hear you on having to drive for good groceries. I too, know people who order their fruit. They order it from the farmer's market people and they love it. Thanks for your comment on my blog the other day. You - girl - are downright amazing. And I hope you know that. Many never choose to rise above the shitty hands they've been dealt as children and use it as an excuse...but not you. And I'm proud to know you. xoxo

  2. Wow... that's definitely not what I'd call customer service for a reliable customer buying in mass quantities. You'd figure he'd want to keep that going. But I guess not.

I'm totally feeling like the only one who doesn't hate the recaptcha... So I'll give in and figure out how to take it off my blog too. Tons of complaints out there.

  3. Seriously, I've been guessing at captchas all week and amazed I got as many of them right as I did!
Let me know how the fruit ordering thing works out! Do you bring a cooler along when you make your road trip for groceries? Frozen fruit, if the store you go to has good ones -- i.e., no sugar added -- is great to keep around for smoothies, to put in oatmeal, etc. Berries, mangoes, pineapple, etc. Frozen veggies often have more nutrients in the them than fresh because they are frozen so quickly after being picked, rather than sitting in a truck for five days making their way to your supermarket.

  4. I hate the comment verifications too I just let people post because you always have the power to delete them. Good luck with your detox I should have done that after my week ugh! And sorry about the fruit thing I would have been overly peed if someone did that to me. I hope the brochure is good so you don't have to ride 100+ miles

  5. Yeah I've kept mine off the entire time, and I've never had spam issues. The word verification will make my head explode one day soon though. :p

Ordering fruit online sounds great! If you get good produce that is :D

  6. What a douche! He kept all the free good stuff?!

Good luck on detoxing. I just told Hubs last night we should buy a juicer.

  8. OMG, we're on the same wavelength. I just did the same thing. I got tired of having to enter the captcha multiple times. MADE ME NUTS. And too much trouble. I'm [pretty much gonna stop commenting on blogs that have the captchas. Blah.

    Happy weekend, babe.

  9. I got rid of the captcha thing too after a friend told me how hard it was for her to leave a comment. I think the person who invented captcha is being paid by spammers so we'd be forced to remove it and then we'd get bunches of spam. :P

Living in a big city, it is hard to imagine how hard it is for some folks to get fresh produce. Me, all I do is walk across the street, walk 1/2 a mile, or walk 1 mile and I can find all kinds of fresh produce. Hope you are able to get the weekly delivery; most of those "clubs" are also pretty good with reshipping when the shipment that arrives isn't up to par. We used to have that at my job.

Feel better and have a great week.

  10. I wish other people would realize how annoying the word verification thingy is when we want to comment. It´s so frustrating. I haven´t had it on my blog and I don´t get any spam at all. I hope this catches on!

  11. Wow...that's a haul just for groceries!! I guess you would really need to plan ahead to get the proper amount of fresh fruit and veg in your diet. Kuddo's to you! Hopefully that delivery service can take some of the pressure off!

  12. I've been finding that catcha thing so frustrating. I unclicked it and hopefully an spam will be catched with the moderating of posts. It almost makes me want to not comment because sometimes I can't read it even after I've changed it 3-4 times. Takes the enjoyment out of it.

  13. yikes @ driving 100 miles!
but in rhode island EVERYTHING is 30 minutes away at most.
i am SO lucky to have an awesome produce market literally around the corner that sells local & organic.
even local milk, cheese, peanut butter & honey -- if that's your thing.
i will not be taking it for granted from now on!

yay for shutting off captcha -- i have no problem with ya pre-approving my comments!

    xxoo

  14. I'm doing a green smoothie detox/cleanse, but only for four days - starting yesterday and including Tuesday, the day of the dark moon (I am a witch, I am allowed to believe in the moon ^^ ).

There are several produce-ordering possibilities around here, but I have to say I am not too happy with most of them. All-organic is too expensive for us, plus they would only bring stuff to the first closed door, which would mean my stuff would have to sit in the weather form noon till late afternoon when I get home, and that is not happening. Luckily I am living in a well-developed area, with four grocery stores between work and home (plus one organic-only shop). But dragging everything home with public transportation still sucks.

  15. Thanks, I love not having to type in those damn words! They are awful!! I thought about doing the fruit/veggie ordering thing but I'm lucky and have lots of local access so I couldn't get my mind past the cost, even though it would probably be fresher! Come spring we have lots of farmer markets that start selling stuff and those are pretty awesome, I just have to be able to find the ones I can get to since most of them are during my work hours. I need to put the work in to do some detoxing myself after this week. Gotta mend from this cold first and get back to the exercise too!

  16. I definitely take my city for granted. I have fruit and veg on sale all around my house. If I wanted a fresh banana as soon as I finished writing this, I could probably visit about 5 shops within 5 minutes of me. I will appreciate it a lot more now!

I hear you about the word verfiication things, they're so annoying!!!
