belly belly belly belly, rock it everywhere

This jelly belly's got to go.  I can feel weight loss in my jeans, because they button a whole lot easier - however there is soooooo much belly there.  It won't freakin' go away.  Is low carb the only way to attack and reduce that area?  What are some good workouts for it - or is it hopeless?  I do yoga and there's a lot of core involved in those stretches, will that help?  I can see a difference in my face (however slight), I can also see a difference in how my bras fit - the girls are going down (bummer!) - but I want to see more of a difference in this stomach ginormica.  When I sit down, even my thighs seem to squish out less, however my belly is just huge.  So disheartening - wish I could see differences, but I'm only 21 pounds down.  I just want any ideas on targeting that area, or if it's just slow and steady.

  1. I listen to Jillian Michaels religiously and she always says there is no way to specifically target certain areas.

As you lose more it will go down, I promise. :) Don't get discouraged!

  2. As JoBee said, there is no way to lose fat in a specific location. Fat is a layer on your body, got to shed the layers.

You can build muscles in a single location. However, fat doesn't transform into muscle, either. If all you ever did was crunches, your abs muscles would be ripped ...under a layer of fat.

Slow and steady - with patience and determination - you will get where you want to be.

  3. Thanks for the comments. I was really hoping someone would say there's a magic wand in their closet they could wave over this tub o' lard tummy and FIX IT for me........ ;) Slow and steady wins the race. If only I had that patience, I Have some super cute jeans and shirts to wear, and this belly is way too much for them.....

  4. Unfortunately there is no magic pill to get rid of belly fat or cellulite but if you keep being consistent with your efforts it will come off all over. Don't get discouraged, slow and steady is the only way to go. I'm sure you will be in those super cute jeans and shirts soon.

  6. Unfortunately, there's no such thing as "spot training", like everyone has already said. =( What a bummer, right? There are some Firm DVD workouts that are short (20 minutes-30 minutes), and of course some that are longer, 45 minutes to an hour. I can give you a list of my favorites, if you'd like. =)

  7. I've read that walking is a great workout for your abs if you keep them engaged while doing it. If you hold everything in it will help to tone the muscle and you will be working just a little harder which might increase your calories burned.

  8. my trainer always has be wearing a jacket when I work out to make me sweet a lot that area, and also I do a lot of core work. Crunches, oblique crunches, lower ab etc. They suck to do , but thats where my weight came off first (before i just put it back on, BLEH) but I had a flat tummy in a matter of weeks! Good luck!!!!

  9. Oh me too, how I wish the tummy would just go. My boobs are gone, my butt is gone, my legs are gone...you know what I mean :o) but my tummy, yes it's 10" smaller but it needs another 5 to go. It's hard work and like most have said, you can't target an area just an over all workout but you can do this, yes you can. Just have patience and keep up the great work.
    Take care and God Bless!!

  10. Hmm I have the same problem, other places shrink when I'm losing but the belly just seems to get wobblier and less attractive bleh I hate it, that and my saddlebags. I've asked many doctors nad trainers about spot reducing my belly but it's just where a big chunk of my fat lies, genetics maybe...it'll go one day, for both of us :-)
